The aroma of Christ.
What might that be like?
Fragrant?
Appealing?
Peaceful?
To be the aroma of Christ to those around us, to everyone ("those being saved and those perishing"), is a privilege. It is a responsibility.
It is like we are filled up with a spice, a wonderful, healing, spice, that others notice just by our presence. That is an aroma.
When we are irritated. When we are bothered. When we are challenged. When we are 'pushed'. When 'our plans' are disrupted. When we don't get our own way. When people hurt us.
Are we more than just people when we are 'shook'?
Are we the aroma of Christ?
It made me think of a spice shaker. If the spice is strong, you can smell it just by being near it. If the spice is strong, you can probably guess what spice is in the shaker without asking.
But the real test is when you shake the shaker, then you know for sure what spice is held within.
What a contradiction it would be to think that a shaker held cinnamon, but when disrupted you see that it actually holds ground tobacco.
When others are near me, I want them to think Christ is within me.
When others 'shake' me, I want them to know Christ is within me.
So, what kind of container are you?

This is so good! Thank you! I needed to hear it!
I'm thinking of those mixed ones, you know like "cinnamon & sugar" in one shaker....but what about when I want just cinnamon?? Do I sift through the sugar? No, I go for the plain cinnamon shaker. Or I want sugar, I use sugar - my hummingbirds would not like cinnamon in their water, I think!
Lord, help me to sift the me out of the way so that when shaken, bumped, disturbed, people know that You are in me. Amen.
I'm garlic. I smell but I'm good for you.
I love this!!! I wish there was a "share" button on here to post this to my FB wall!
I heard this same sermon with you and I, too, was convicted. I think the only way to for Christ to come out when we are shaken is to be in prayer often and in the Word daily. Sometimes I avoid being shaken because I know what will come out is not good. Lisa~
At different seasons of our lives as we experience the molding; melding or "curing" of our hearts in Christ Jesus, so it would be hard to say which it is at that time but hopefully it would be more of the fruits of the spirit and less of me (us).
Amazing!!I Love this scripture and actually just shared it last week with the class of CMJC. Dealing with men I of course included verse 17--"Unlike so many,we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary,in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent fron God.
LOVE THIS!!! WOW!!! What a great thought.
I needed to hear that this morning. I know I'm late in reading it, God's timing is perfect in every way.
I hope that my shaker shows Christ at all times, but I know I have work to do.
